We're so pleased to hear that marriage equality has finally won the hearts of the Australian people.

My good friend Nicole and her partner Kirsten chose New Zealand as their wedding destination last year having not been able to legally marry here in Australia.

One year on and we're so thrilled to hear that their marriage will be soon be recognised here in Australia.

Having lived on Hamilton Island here in the Whitsundays for a number of years, Nicole chose to start a new chapter of her life in Thredbo swapping the Whitsunday sun for adventures in the snow.

It was during their snowy adventures that Nicole and Kirsten met. One year on from their beautiful wedding day they are now building their first home and have a baby on the way. We wish them many congratulations and many more happy wonderful times ahead.

We look forward to welcoming more couples like Nicole and Kirsten to the Whitsunday region to exchange vows and express their love openly in this beautiful part of the world.
